Birth weight is one of the main factors in childchr('39')s physical mental growth . L.B.W. causes increasing mortality rate disbilities and diseases in infant. Neonatal rate in L.B.W. occasionally infant with L.B.W. has forty fold of neonatal mortality rate in comparision with normal weight infants.
The aim of this study is recognition of effective factors on birth weight and Evaluating the incidence of low birth weight and infant mortality rate. 848 children who was born between 1990-1996. in Isfahan health center were selected and collected data analyses by spss program.
In this survey there was a significant relation between maternal risk factor, degree of birth, birth interval and birth weight.
Study showes significant relation between infant mortality and history of mothers disease like hypertension, Legs edema and health care in pregnancy duration. Data shows that maternal risk factors like motherchr('39')s age in pregnancy, birth interval and history of motherchr('39')s disease are important in L.B.W. Recognition and reduction of other risk factorchr('39')s are neccessary for health promotion
