ABSTRACT
Hypertension (HTN) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) commonly occur together, but their concomitant conditions are not completely determined. To clarify the concomitant factors of HTN and DM , in this prospective study , we examined 2000 consecutive patients (mean age 56. 1 years , 65.9% fermale, 34.1% male) with diagnosis of Essential Arterial Hypertension in a cardiovascular clinic in Rasht . 369 Cases (18.4%) of the total patients had DM , compared with 1631 Cases (81.6%) Without DM.
The prevalence of systolic hypertension (20.3% Vs 8.9% p<0.001), mean age (57.8 vs 55.7 year, P<0.01) mean duration of history of HTN (73 vs 6.3 years, P<0.01), menopause (84.1% vs 73.9, p<0.001), and positive history of DM in first degree relatives (33.6% vs 14. 1% p<0.001),were higher in diabetic than nondiabtic hypertensive patients. These data suggest that elderly age, long history of HTN, menopause in female sex, systolic hypertension, and positive history of DM in first degree relatives, are risk (concomitant) factors for association of DM in hypertensive patients

ABSTRACT:
In recent studies the relation between the birth order and psychopathology of psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and mood disorder has been discussed .So far ,no exact relation between the above mentioned case has not been obtained due to the intricate and extensive role of the number of family members or the order of birth in development of diseases.
The Purpose of this study is to investigate the relation of schizophrenia ,mood disorder and the birth order of patients. The present research has been carried out on 509 patients hospitalized in pschiatric center of Mirza Koochik in 1370 -1 (1-991-2) Using the diagnostic criterion of DSM -III-R, 126 patients were with schizophrenia ,169 with mood disorder (dipolar)and severe depression and 214 casses with other psychotic disorders. Statistical study showed that there was no significant correlation between the birth order and schizophrenia and mood disorder.Statistical test used in this research is chi-square(x2) and the probability rate has been determined for the significance of P<0.05.

Environmontal Radioactivity Monitoring Following the Chernobyl Accidents
A Mesbah .
1
ABSTRACT:
In april 1986 nuclear accident of Chernobyl's reactor (Unit.No4) released a significant amounts (50 Mci) of highly dangerous radioactive materials into the atmosphere. Undoubtedly, some of these radionuclides have long lives and can contaminate the environment for,far distances Thus, it is highly important to measure presence of radionuclides in air ,water soil and agriculture products, long after the accident. At present ,however, study of environmental radioactivity is a routine reserch in many countries. The aim of the present paper is to measure radioisotopic contamination in air soil and water of a few reqions in north of Iran . in this study . We have measured total activity of gamma and beta in the air and collected 50 samples of soil ,surface and tap water from 11 reqions of Azarbyjan (East and West ).border of Iran_Russia Iran_Turkey and Caspian Sea reqions .
The environmental factors being measured in this research were temperature. humidity, PH...ect ,and in laboratory :we have measurd turbidity .conductivity TDS .total and calcium hardness of water’samples. After evaporating approximately llit of each sample. we have measurd total gamma and beta activity (Bq/1). The results of water samples from Azarbayjan were satisfactory ,but ,the samples from Caspian Sea showed some contamination suggesting a need for continuation of the study. the analysis of the soil samples were carried out by gamma spectrometer (Ge-Li) to measure a few radionuclides as Cs-134 ,Cs-137 ,Ce-141 and Ce-144 .The results of all the radionuclides were important in Azarbaijans, borders(879 Km Iron Tehran ).specially for Cs-137 (195.9 Bq/kg ) wich can be the result of fission product of chernobyl nuclear reactor accident.

ABSTRACT:
Mother's milk is the best food for babies with a variety of nutrients necessary for growth .It also plays an immunogenic role and it includes immonoglobulin, leucocytes and commponents like Lysosome ,Lactoferrin etc Such milk destroys microorganisms and makes breast - fed baby resistant to infection.Premature infants and infants with poor growth rate need more immunugenic substances in comparison with term infants .It seems that there are more immunogenic substances in mother's milk of premature infants .This study will compare cellular components and colestrum Immonoglobulins in the milk of term and preterm mothers.
Samples from 160 mothers were compared. As a result IgA ,IgM, IgG, Leucocytes and neutrophils of premature mothers (Group 2)were more than term mothers (Group 1). Results are summarized in the following table:

Neonatal meningitis prevalence because of uncommon pathogens
E Noursalehi.

ABSTRACT:
In the last years, meningitis etiologic agents have changed rapidly. In the industrialized countries the most common microorganisms responsible to bacterial meningitis were Group.B.Streptococci and E.coli ,but in the Developing Countries, Salmonella.is considered one of the most common pathogens. Between to 1982-1989, studies carried out in the neonatal ward of Bahrami Hospital confirmed this claim, i.e, out of 29 patients hospitalized in the neonatal ward in 15 infants, bacterium from Spinal fluid (SF) was cultured and it was found that.
Salmonella was the most common microorganism responsible for majority the of deaths

A Prevalence Survey of Factors Associated with Panic
Disorders in 310 Clients in 1365-72 (1986-1993)
M.J Modabbernia,
1
ABSTRACT:
In a descriptive study with the aim of showing the prevalance of factors associated with panic disorder, 310 patients were selected among the whole cases visited in my clinic at the years 65 to 72. Their mean age was 3207 with SD:10/2±0 .This Survey was done by means of questionaire and clinical interview with the patients and their families with regard to the third revised edition of diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders.
The results showed that 51 cases (16/5%)of the patients' first degree relatives had panic disorder and 18 cases(6%) had mood disorder.
The patients themselve were exposed to various stress.events in life just one year befor the beginning of disorder : Familial confficts in 68 cases (22%), Death of first degree relatives in 38cases(12/3%).
137 cases had the premorbid presonality of anxious type.
Our patients were often among age group 30-34, illiterate ,female sex, married persons with 3 offsprings, unskilled workers individuals with moderate incomes and resident in urban areas.
