@article{ author = {Sobhani, A.R and Alavi, S.M}, title = {Effect of Vitamin E on platelet activity.}, abstract ={ABSTRACT A large number of drugs have been demonstrated to effect platelet function and production .Even when shown to alter platelet function following ingestion of these drugs ,information on the effect of hematological parameter and the clinical significance is unavailable for many drugs. There is a lot of evidence in favour of significant changes in the activity of platelet function by vitamin E but results are controversial . The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vitamin E on some of the hematological parameters which are index for platelet function. A total of 10 healthy persons were chosen among laboratory science students who showed no evidence of disease. The cross-over method was used in this research All samples were treated with vitamin E (300IU/day) for 10 days. The platelet function test such as PTT,PT, bleeding time ,coagulation time ,clot retraction and platelet were measured before and again 5 and 10 days after vitamin E administration. Results are analysed by paired student t-test .A value of P<0.05 was considered to denote significant differences. Our findings suggest that vitamin E therapy may change some hematological parameters which are related to dose and duration of administration. The platelet function decreased during 5 days but increased gradually after this time. We also observed a rise in platelet counts afte 10 days treatment with vitamin E.Changes in platelet function after long term vitamin E therapy are determined in this study .it must be established in future.}, Keywords = {}, volume = {3}, Number = {10}, pages = {1-8}, publisher = {}, url = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1864-en.html}, eprint = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1864-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Guilan University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2383-4307}, eissn = {2423-4818}, year = {1994} } @article{ author = {Ebadati., N}, title = {New procedure for Diagnosis of Malignant Hyperthermia with Using Plateletes.}, abstract ={ABSTRACT The malignant hyperthermia is recognized as one of the causes of anesthesia related death and is pharmacogenetic because both an abnormal gene and environmental factor are necessary. The basic diagnostic procedure is based on the measurement of ATP in patient specimen by ATP photometer.Platelets are used for the new diagnostic laboratory procedure in this study. Three individuals with abnormal gene and 20 people with normal one as control were selected in the state of Texas in United States of America. The experiment showed that halothane decreases the level of ATP in individuals with malignant hyperthermia . Halothane may show little inhibition on normal people. The results of this study show that platelets worked out well and do not have those limitations of the previous procedure.}, Keywords = {}, volume = {3}, Number = {10}, pages = {9-12}, publisher = {}, url = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1865-en.html}, eprint = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1865-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Guilan University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2383-4307}, eissn = {2423-4818}, year = {1994} } @article{ author = {Shahtahmasbi, S}, title = {A Survey to Find the Prevalence of Rickets in Two Regions of Gilan ,Astaneh & Somehsara}, abstract ={ABSTRACT Deficiency of vitamin D especially in growing children can cause rickets (1).It has been shown that people who do not get enough sunshine may be prone to rikets (2) . The aim of this project was to find the prevalence of rickets in Gilan which is, from the climate point of view, a place with rainy and cloudy environment in most of the year. The method for carring out this research was cluster sampling (3). Children and infants of 0-5 years of age were examined to find the signs of rickets(4).The children who were prone to rickets referred to a clinic for final examination , radiography, and laboratory analysis .Results showed that 1.26% of total population of Astaneh and 9% of total population of Somehsara had rickets Our results were compared with those of another study which had been carried out by Rezaee and Keshavarz in rural areas of Sirjan in Kerman (6). Although the authors did not aim to find rickets, they showed that deficiency of vitamin D was 5% which was more than that in our results.  }, Keywords = {}, volume = {3}, Number = {10}, pages = {13-16}, publisher = {}, url = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1866-en.html}, eprint = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1866-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Guilan University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2383-4307}, eissn = {2423-4818}, year = {1994} } @article{ author = {Ashrafi., K and Massoud., J}, title = {Prevalence of Intestinal Parasites in Kangavar Town, Bakhtaran Province in the West of Iran}, abstract ={ABSTRACT A total of 2530 persons(1009 from Town and 1521 from suburban villages were selected randomly and examined by formalin ether concentration method . The overall prevalence of infection was (73.68%). The most common helminths were Ascaris lumbricoides (23.68%), Trichuris trichiura (11.26%) ,Hymenolepis nana (8.22%), and the most common pathogenic intestinal protozoa was Giardia lamblia (22.29%). Multiple infections with pathogenic parasites were noted in 17.28%. of subjects.Ascaris and Trichuris were twice more prevalent in urban areas than that in rural areas , in contrast Hymenolepis nana was more prevalent in rural areas , while the level of Giardia and Entamoeba histolytica were not significantly different.}, Keywords = {}, volume = {3}, Number = {10}, pages = {17-23}, publisher = {}, url = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1867-en.html}, eprint = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1867-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Guilan University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2383-4307}, eissn = {2423-4818}, year = {1994} } @article{ author = {Tabatabai., s and Soleimani, .B and Shadzi., Sh}, title = {Study of the stability and resistance of vitamin C against destructive factors in varied preservation conditions in some fruits available in Iran}, abstract ={ABSTRACT There is some evidence showing that vitamin C is destroyed by different factors such as heat ,air, light and mechanical pressure Ascorbic acid oxidizing enzyme, once exposed to air, becomes activated and oxidize vitamin C.This enzyme, however becomes inactivated by heat specially in vicinity of iron and copper and once exposed to an alkalin environment .Since vitamin C is water solouble , juicy fruits lose their vitamin C content in the lapse of time. In the present study ,vitamin C content of some types of fruits available in the country was assessed while the samples were preserved for a period of 2 months at zero and 15 degrees centigrade respectively during which vitamin C content of the Samples was assessed at regular intervals . Results of the study showed that generally ,vitamin C content of all the studied fruits had reduced by the lapse of time and this reduction was more conspicuous in 15 C compared to 0 (the correlation coefficient between days of study and vitamin C content of fruits in all samples was less than 0.87 and was significant at 0.01 level). Change of vitamin C in different fruits was varied in a way that, for example in the last day of study the vitamin C content of pomegranate was nil while in orange this amount was only 10% of the original amount of vitamin which had been present in the sample in the first day of study In quince ,vitamin C reduction was the same either in zero or 15^C and less compared with other fruits .The reason may be that this fruit contains less water and ascorbic acid oxidase enzyme (A.A.O.) compared with other fruits Therefore it is more resistant against the destructive factors}, Keywords = {}, volume = {3}, Number = {10}, pages = {24-30}, publisher = {}, url = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1868-en.html}, eprint = {http://journal.gums.ac.ir/article-1-1868-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Guilan University of Medical Sciences}, issn = {2383-4307}, eissn = {2423-4818}, year = {1994} } @article{ author = {Sepehri, .H}, title = {Types of delusions in delusional disorder}, abstract ={ABSTRACT The goal of this study was to screen the diagnosed delusional disorder patients and to determine the type of delusions among them.
