Introduction: Some chronic diseases like cancer, and their associated side effects are considered as stressful life events. But, these reactions are not necessarily the results of the mentioned conditions and depend on the pressure compensatory factors, like hopefulness and Psychological Hardiness.
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the relationship of hopefulness and Psychological Hardiness with general health of women suffering from breast cancer.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive correlational study was conducted in Rasht in 2016
. The study population included 108 patients of which 85 people were selected using the Morgan table. Data were obtained through questionnaires, hwMiller,s hopefulness to life, public health and psychological hardiness and analyzed using the multivariable regression statistical methods and Pearson correlation.
Results: The results show a positive relationship between Hardiness to public health and the dimensions including physical signs(p<0.01), anxiety(p<0.01), social conflict(p<0.01) and depression (p<0.01). In addition, a negative correlation was observed between hopefulness to life and public health dimensions including physical signs(p<0.01), anxiety(p<0.01), social conflict (p<0.01) and depression (p<0.01).
Conclusion: The results of this investigation can serve as the guidance to flourish psychological hardiness and hopefulness to life sense in the medical treatment of ill women.
