ABSTRACT:
In a descriptive study with the aim of showing the prevalance of factors associated with panic disorder, 310 patients were selected among the whole cases visited in my clinic at the years 65 to 72. Their mean age was 3207 with SD:10/2±0 .This Survey was done by means of questionaire and clinical interview with the patients and their families with regard to the third revised edition of diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders.
The results showed that 51 cases (16/5%)of the patients' first degree relatives had panic disorder and 18 cases(6%) had mood disorder.
The patients themselve were exposed to various stress.events in life just one year befor the beginning of disorder : Familial confficts in 68 cases (22%), Death of first degree relatives in 38cases(12/3%).
137 cases had the premorbid presonality of anxious type.
Our patients were often among age group 30-34, illiterate ,female sex,married persons with 3 offsprings, unskilled workers individuals with moderate incomes and resident in urban areas.
