ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to study mental health in Guilan University of Medical Sciences students .For this reason, 536 students were randomly selected and studied with self - reporting questionaire(SRQ).
The results showed that 30 to 50 percent of sample had symptoms such as disturbing thoughts,difficultiess in decision making, fatigue, non- pleasure from daily activities, nervous, tate and worry,fear and panic, and sadness respectively. Findings indicated significant mentally health differences between male and female students,married and unmarried students,students with different grades ,students who were accepted on different quotas,students with different age groups „students interested and uninterested in their courses, and students who lived in dormitories in comparison with other students.But there was no significant relationship between mental health and level of educations,courses,major factor for selecting courses,andGuilanian and non- Guilanian students.
According to SRQ results, 18.3 percent of students probably had mental illness. This number is higher in female (19%) than that in male (16%) students.
