ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was the evaluation of salmonella infections in Guilan . The survey was carried out on 153 patients of two hospitals in Rasht . Test samples included blood ,feces and urine.
Samples taken from patients were cultured and biochemical . Serological test for determination of antigenic formmula were carried out .66 patients were positive for salmonella comprising 57 S. typhi 7 Salmonella group B and S. mathura .S. mathura was isolated from the blood of a 9-year-old girl ;It is the first report in Iran.
The infections were most prevelant in man ,in students and age group of 11 - 20 years old. Study of drinking water showed that most of the patients used well water.
