ABSTRACT:
In april 1986 nuclear accident of Chernobyl's reactor (Unit.No4) released a significant amounts (50 Mci) of highly dangerous radioactive materials into the atmosphere. Undoubtedly, some of these radionuclides have long lives and can contaminate the environment for,far distances Thus, it is highly important to measure presence of radionuclides in air ,water soil and agriculture products, long after the accident. At present ,however, study of environmental radioactivity is a routine reserch in many countries. The aim of the present paper is to measure radioisotopic contamination in air soil and water of a few reqions in north of Iran . in this study . We have measured total activity of gamma and beta in the air and collected 50 samples of soil ,surface and tap water from 11 reqions of Azarbyjan (East and West ).border of Iran_Russia Iran_Turkey and Caspian Sea reqions .
The environmental factors being measured in this research were temperature. humidity, PH...ect ,and in laboratory :we have measurd turbidity .conductivity TDS .total and calcium hardness of water’samples. After evaporating approximately llit of each sample. we have measurd total gamma and beta activity (Bq/1). The results of water samples from Azarbayjan were satisfactory ,but ,the samples from Caspian Sea showed some contamination suggesting a need for continuation of the study. the analysis of the soil samples were carried out by gamma spectrometer (Ge-Li) to measure a few radionuclides as Cs-134 ,Cs-137 ,Ce-141 and Ce-144 .The results of all the radionuclides were important in Azarbaijans, borders(879 Km Iron Tehran ).specially for Cs-137 (195.9 Bq/kg ) wich can be the result of fission product of chernobyl nuclear reactor accident.
